Editing mod in steam
Previously I always use free download of this game and today I decide 'you know what, time to support the dev'. I usually edit mods that I use especially the guns mod, since it's very easy to do it, I even edit the vanilla guns.

Can I do that in steam? like will it break if I change? what happen if I edit the mod and the mod maker do an update?

You can edit the workshop mods you download, they will function for a time. If a mod updates your changes will usually be overwritten. What you can do is copy the mod from the workshop folder and paste it into the game's base mod folder, then edit it there and never lose your changes, just make sure to turn your edited version on in game.

You need to edit it again.

Either use modmanager to create local copies of the mods you download on the Workshop or use the mod In-Game Definition Editor to edit your guns.
I don't recommend using Ingame Def Editor when having a bunch of mods. When I activated it, it generated tons of erros with missing references and other things and made me unable to generate a new world. I'm sticking to manual editing.

Doesn't mean OP will have issues. I have zero issues and I have 180 mods active.
I know. I was just giving a warning. Good thing it has no way of breaking saves.

If you copy the mod from the steam workshop content folder ( steam\steamapps\workshop\content\294100\ ) to your local rimworld mod folder ( steam\steamapps\common\RimWorld\Mods ), you can modify it all you want without it auto updating. You can get the mod ID (used as the folder name in the workshop content) from the URL of any workshop mod.

In-game, you will see the mod listed twice - once with the steam icon (that's the original mod), and once with a folder icon (that's your modified copy). Just load your modified one instead of the workshop one.

Mod Manager (which itself is a mod) is simpler, but this is how you do it without loading more mods :)
