Eliptical orbit - is this vanilla feature?
Is eliptical orbit(and by that climate cycle) a feature that was implemented at some point in vanilla, or mine game is so modded, i don't even know what i have there?
If it is vanilla, is there any mod that turns it off? I hate to experience +17oC when i picked -30oC map. Halp!

If you have climate cycle turned on, then yes removing it from the scenario means it wont happen again. The temperatures will be "closer" to the averages listed on the world map, but no it wont always be between those, there is some variation, sometimes quite a bit, even without cold snaps and heat waves. I don't know what controls how far off it can spike, some maps it might be 20 degrees C above or below the average at times, other maps it's usually stays within 5-10 degrees.

The base game Climate Cycle event shows up on screen as "Climate Cycle" on the lower right. If you hover the mouse over it it says "A multi-year climate cycle due to an elliptical orbit." It would have been there from the start of the game and it will stay there for the entire game because it's not a timed event, it's a permanent condition. If that's what you are seeing it's not a mod, it's a vanilla mechanic.

If you are seeing a random event that's called "Elliptical Orbit" that happens in the middle of a game, then that's not vanilla.

It's not vanilla, unless you mean the Climate Cycle event which is basically meant to represent an elliptical orbit. Climate cycle is a permanent game condition option for scenarios, it doesn't happen naturally, you'd have to either manually add it to a scenario or roll a random one that included it.

I mean both to be honest. So i can just turn it off in scenario(climate cycle), and it will be always between temperatures i see when picking spot for colony in world window? E.g. -30oC to -8,7oC? Not taking to account heat waves, cold snaps and vulcanic winters (and toxic fallouts if i remember correctly, they also drop temperature a bit).
And Elliptical Orbit is modded event/condition? I ahve to look for mod which does it then. Thank you for response.
