How to save someone quickly?
Got a message someone needs to be rescued from two boars. Sent two of my colonists there to shoot them, one got hurt. Then I had to build a house and three beds (one for the rescued person, two for my colonists) by that point ther person I was supposed to rescue had died and my colonist was about to bleed out too.
How to go about this in a smarter way?

make a sleeping spot medical only?

Yep. Throw down a sleeping spot, turn it into a medical spot, set the injured person for care but no meds and just patch em up. You may get infections and the whole scene may be depressing, but they won't have Bleeding 589% (Death in 2 hours) on their medical bill. When they're not leaking their important liquidy bits, you can take care of any resulting infections and the rest of their care in your proper hospital by dumping them back on the ground and having the doc haul them to safety.

Small note -- when you plop them back on the floor after deconstructing the makeshift med spot the game will whine at you again about their health until you take them back to another (hopefully better) med bed/hospital, don't freak out.

EDIT: Oh, I suppose that's a good point. I made this reply thinking this all happened on your base map. If this was a quest, DEFINITELY bring meds along (for any quest really), especially if the entire mission is a rescue.

If someone is bleeding to his death, do you wait to build a hospital around him before giving him first aid?

If you need emergency healing, just drop a sleeping spot on the ground. Sure it's bad, but it beats bleeding to death while waiting. A possibility would have been, if you knew you were going to need a bed, to have brought one along with you to just install it, and waste as little time as possible. But what's definitely important is to bring medicine along with you, to compensate for the fact you will have terrible working conditions. In any case, if the guy gets infections or something because the emergency healing was bad, he'll get better treatment once he's brought back to the colony.

When you leave your base, especially if you KNOW you are going on a rescue mission.

Bring along enough bedrolls for everyone, *including* the rescued.
Bring along enough medicines to treat each person (including rescued) at least 2 times.
Bring along a doctor that knows how to use the medicine.
If possible, bring along someone to fix the doctor, if he is the one becoming a patient.

When you have a casualty out there, slap down one of the bedrolls right next to to victim, declare it medical, rescue the victim or have him use the medical bed, and treat the victim using your best available doctor and the medicine.
If the case is ***urgent***, you can skip the bedroll placement and just slap a sleeping spot on the ground instead.

Consider having the doctor bring along the medicine in his own inventory, not in the caravan baggage. When doctor treats patient, just drop the med on the ground next to patient first.
