1.0 How do you tame an elephant with a 10% chance of revenge?
I have noticed all of the good animals in this game have the 10% chance of revenge stat now. Does this go down after a certain taming skill level? Or do I have to wait until I can survive the revenge slaughter and just take the chance?

Risk vs reward

Dang lol will wait until I have some better stuff then. Tried fairly early on and all of the elephants trampled my whole colony. Luckily I had an auto save right before it happened.

Nevermind found a better way. Bought a female elephant from the shaman merchant and just going to her knocked up from the wild males. Will just keep buying them if that doesn't work out the way I want it to.

Wild animals don't mate.

...carefully and be ready to run away and get behind a door with someone to repair it on the inside just in case ;)

Some players have reported they do. Doesn't matter anyways a couple of the elephants tamed themselves and saved me a lot of trouble. I have a pregnant female and 2 males so eventually I will have my army :)

Do they lose interest after a while? If so that would be cool might have to try that.

Post your results please, because in 1.0 animals now look more like noob trap (at least from my quick dig through it).

Yes. After they fall asleep they drop agro.

Another way to handle difficult to tame animals is to down them then rescue them. While being treated they have a chance to be tamed. You can take the whole colony out drafted and shoot the crap out of everything with minimal risk, then rescue anything that's downed.

Also, if you shoot them a bit before trying to tame them, you have a good chance of injuring their mobility, which makes running away a lot easier, as well as making their attacks less likely to land. Plus, having a few people on hand to defend in case things go south is not a bad idea either.

I found out recently that even today real taming of elephants basically involves torturing them into submission! I was horrified. I genuinely feel bad taming them in game now......although apparently Im fine with wiping out a herd of them for meat and ivory ....hmmmm.

Only problem with this is there are like 10 of them and my colonists are still using bolt action rifles lol. Tried it once before and like I mentioned did not end well. I have some LMGs in the making so maybe my results will be better now.

It's a good thing this game doesn't have elephant torture lol

Hiding did not work on wooden doors. Might need granite or plasteel to pull that off. Looked like it was starting to work but just could not keep up with the repairs. Will try again later after I find a plasteel vein.

What? You never downed one by burns from incendiary launchers, then hauled it back to base and proceed to keep it downed by repeatedly stabbing and healing it until it gets infections?

Just build a few wood wall tiles behind the door. After they bust down the door they see no route past it and wander.
