Colonists don't seem to be watching my flatscreen tv?
So I bought one of these from a passing exotic goods merchant because I am nowhere near the tech level to make my own, and I installed it and powered it up, but no one ever seems to watch it. Does it need certain spacing or something?

All I can tell is that there's a space highlighted in front of the TV when you place it, and you need to put chairs in that place.

Yes, when you put it down it shows the watching zone, anywhere outside of it and it's like watching a game from the back at a party or how your uncle always got the garbage seat at thanksgiving off to the side at 180 degrees with the screen. Also make sure it's facing the people and not the wall. S.O. had the TV facing the wall and swore they were useless one time.

EDIT: Ah yes, and seats!

AHHHH seating! Of course, no one wants to watch tv standing up. Thanks lol.

I just make that long wood table (That used to be the largest table in the game) And put 4 chairs on each side of the long sides. Then make the tv area cover the back row thats facing towards it.

Then the pawns can eat or watch tv there.

The screen is excellent when matched with tables and seats in a congressing area,
such as Dining room, visitors' Lobby and hospital's Bedding yard.
I tend to use the regular tube for the table/seat in pawn apartment.

And relax socially there if it's a gathering spot, so you get all the gang at one place rather than a group watching TV and some dude "relaxing socially" in a corner.

I put TVs in two places:

- Dining room so that when they are sitting to eat they also have the TV there so that they don't have to wast time walking to get to a recreation option. Of course I also have Pool table and Poker table right there in that room.

- Hospital at the foot of the beds. They will watch it while healing and helps offset the pain debuff by not having them recreation starved.

if only prisoners watched tv instead of having breakouts.

I was going to suggest you might have it on the wrong channel.

I like using the regular tube TV in my hospital area. The viewing area just about fits the 8 hospital beds that you can cram around a vital monitor.

Then the big TVs, I put in the dining room area. I didn't think about putting the dining table in the view zone but that is a great idea. I usually just build 2-4 arm chairs and the colonists never fill those seats up all the way at any one time.
