How to remove "smooth sandstone" floor?
I have a small patch of "smooth sandstone" floor which was created using "smooth surface".

Unlike other floortypes, I cannot remove it with the floor removal tool. I tried:

- the in-game floor removal tool
- adding a soil floor using the tilled soil mod, with the research it brought
- putitng a different floor on top and removing it

Nothing works. It's... like it is set in stone.

How can I remove this floor and grow there again?

Unless I've misunderstood something, the smooth sandstone could only have been rough sandstone beforehand, and you cannot grow on rough sandstone anyway (unless the soil mod allows for that, but then you might have to ask the author about a smoothed stone reversal method).

What do you mean "again"?.. You could never have grown anything on solid rock.

Ah! Thanks - that clears it up. The ground around it is soil so I figured that there should have been soil under that sandstone.

You can only build a floor over it. If you could remove natural cave floors, where would the dev's lovely infestation addition spawn?

I don't believe there's a way to remove it aside from replacing it with the dev tool/mods.

I had a reason for wanting to revert it before. Might have been because the smoothed/rough-hewn stone collects dirt, whereas the rough stone doesn't.

But you can't grow there "again" because you never could :P

This is an old as ♥♥♥♥ forum, but for some reason it's one of the only things that pop up on google so here's an answer for anyone who doesn't know.
If you have the Quarry mod, you can place down a quarry, build it, destroy it, then use the "Reclaim Soil" action in your Order bar.

I like how you used the phrase "set in stone" in your OP - because it is totally spot on !

The Tilled Soil mod is the absolute best option, and it's great for farming too.
