Game of Ur to Chess

Anyone know what tech unlocks that change? Looking about online suggested it might be complex furniture, but that's not true. It's not a huge deal, the purpose is served either way, I'm just curious.

Traders will sell you the Game of Ur. I don't think you can craft it yourself, as you can the chess set.

Hmmmmm.. maybe that's it then. Tribes have one and Spacers have the other.

I'm a tribe and all I can craft right now is the Game of Ur, I could have sworn at some point that changes to chess. They could very well be separated, either just recently or I'd misremembered.

playing as a tribe. currently i can only craft the game of ur. most techs unlocked. crafting my first power armor ever at that moment.

Maybe it's tied to tech level? Industrial colonists make chess tables while tribals make Ur?

Yup. Tribes get the game of Ur and hoopstone rings, Spacers get chess and horseshoe pin. You have to trade to get all.

Yes, once you go from Neolithic to Medieval tech, Ur/hoops is replaced by Chess/horseshoes.
