Colonists not Eating in Dining Room?
So I have a very impressive dining room for my small colony of 6 to eat in. There are more than enough chairs yet everybody just walks to the freezer, grabs a meal, and eats it on the spot. Why is this happening and how do I fix it?

Take a look at the floor plan where you live, where your family lives, where your friends live, etc, etc. How far do they have to walk from the kitchen to a table and eat? Is it at the other end of the house/apartment/condo?

People spend a lot of time buidling fancy dining areas for their colonists but usually put them too far away from where the meals are stored, then get mad at the game...lol.

Put your table in the freezer, obviously.

Is that the only solution? Cause that an issue if I need a mod for colonists to do a basic thing

To actually help with out mod. The table must be within 24 steps from where they grab the food for them to use the table. Also if a table is closer then your dining table they will use that table provided there is a chair for them to sit on.

I make some small tables in other part of the base too for my people and for the visitors.
They dont always want to walk to the dining room if they are really hungry.

You can extend your unbelievably imperssive dining room with cooridors and place tables in those corridors.

Make a small storage area by your dinning table and assign what meal you want them to eat then they may grab food from that stack and eat at the nearby table. If they grab food from freezer they wil still eat at the closer table your trying to avoid though.

easiest solution is to make several dining tables around your base.
colonists will have 1 meal in their inventory. so if they are farmiong the fields and are hungry
they can go eat there at a table outside. etc..

the bigger your base gets the more dining rooms you should have spread out.

1 dining room for this base would be not enough.

even at the killbox next to the 2 crematoriums there is a table for hungry defenders and corpseburners :D

Generally it'd be wise to make the dining room right next to the kitchen,
with 3 to 5 fridges (or a freezer), containing your meals, in the space connecting the 2.

Your pawns will grab a meal from the fridge/freezer, eat it at the table and grab
a meal to-go to eat mid-day when they're working some place - so provide tables
roughly in a circle around your kitchen in your base.

Awesome base by the way.. looks waay to confusing for me.. but epic none the least.. :) I like when mah stuff is lined and neat all the way around.. never considered that kind of "killbox".. :) how do you handle tunnnellers?

its just a standart killbox without turrets to slow them down. (stonechunks + mines everywhere)
my soldiers are standing in the doors. if the enemies come to close they just back up and the enemies will go all the way around through my maze to the second killbox. its like a long towerdefense lane into my base.
against tunelers, i just let them come into my base (hold doors open etc) and kill them in the middle open area where my 6 tradebeacon stuff is located. much room to kite and shoot.

and you cant see that on my screen but ion the south and east i have tunnels everyhwere with mines in it. most the time the tunnelers just die there somewhere.

biggest threat are droppod raids spread out. sometimes i lose some animals and pawns, but life goes on.

Yeah I figured this out, I wish it was maybe more obvius on how close the dining room ought to be. Now with my planet-renowned sculptor I upgraded the dining room to extremely impressive.

Awesome thanks.. ! love it.. good to know different approaches to the same results.. :) my main defence line is turrets, in layers.. seems to work out fine.. :) (a bit of repair jobs once in a while.. :) but it works.. :)
