Tattered Apparel
I keep getting tattered apparel warnings from a pawn who is unhappy about her ratty outfit. But everything she's wearing is normal/good quality, and the lowest item is 67%. I thought it was fine as long as it was above 50? Is this a glitch, or do some pawns have hidden high standards?

I'm sure I could force her to wear new items, but she's got expensive stuff on that I was hoping to get more use from.

Tattered is 20% or less, worn out is 21-50%, nothing should effect those thresholds. Might be a bug, drop her equipment to see which item is causing it and take a closer look at it.

Could be armor too.
I dont know if weapons give this status.

Ratty Apparel = something new?

I have a masterwork shirt @ 67%, the pawn thinks it's "ratty".
My colony expectations are HIGH at the moment.

I'm wondering if expectations are generating extra debuffs for apparel, because when expectations were low they really didn't seem to care as much until 50% or less. Yeah, maybe our spoiled pawns are getting comfy with their situation and forget the days when they only had triblewear to wear ... :/ ... perhaps, IDK.

Afaik, tattered is <50%, and imo should be fixed either with mend kit at mending table (mod)
or getting that pawn a replacement item that is >50%.
However, expectations can modify pawn behavior in what constitutes as acceptable (mod?).

That confirms what I'm seeing. Switching out that 67 shirt with a 90 shirt removed the ratty hole feeling (the 90 shirt was just a normal cloth shirt, so quality doesn't seem to effect it).

Thanks.

I've never seen a pawn complain about apparel unless it's <50%. Is this a new thing? Mod maybe?

In my example, it appears that the "quality" does matter. I switched out a Masterwork shirt (67%) with a Good shirt (58%) and the "tattered apparel" message (on right of screen) disappeared and the pawn mood debuff (Ratty) went away. So, the "higher" (masterwork, legendary?) quality apparel does make a difference in the Whining-Department ... hmmph, spoiled brats I'd say.

You got any Masterwork+ apparel there Myriad?

EDIT : Both shirts made out of same mats, btw.

Nevermind .... The 67 value deceived me (old age setting in). A masterwork Blurfur button-down shirt was at 50% or less (causing ratty mood). I was too lazy to look for the %, so I saw a value of 67 and said, "meh, 67%" ... then I saw this thread and it went down hill from there.

Pay no attention to the old man who's tired of looking at xml number, it's all a blurr to me now.

For what it's worth, I changed the outfit settings for that pawn to only wear gear that was 80% or higher so she's happy but lost her flak pants & jacket. But then somebody else said "Cool, free flak pants & jacket!" and now HE's unhappy. (pretty sure it must be the 67% pants.)

I personally got worn out when the durability is ~60-70%

Note that the tattered debuff will apply to gears like armor and belts too.

The only thing I can think of is sometimes the name of the item like "cloth tuque (excellent)" will hide the % sometimes becacuse the name is too long, so one of those long name items actually has less than 51% durability and you just fcan't see it until you examine the item individually for its hitpoints.
Astasia Nov 8, 2018 @ 10:28am
It's possible it was changed in 1.0 along with the removal of durability effecting stats. Maybe that was a balancing thing. The wiki still says under 50% but it also still says "worn out" instead of the new "ratty." I use item repair mods and don't let stuff get that low, and it's not easy to see the values in the xml, so I can't confirm either way currently.

More pawns starting to complain about tattered/ratty apparel as condition drops below 70%, seems like it definitely changed (from the wiki wntry, anyway.)
