Boomalope and Boomrat
What's the difference between them?

Boomalope can be milked for chemfuel, and boomrats just get in the way.

Ive read that some people use boomrats as a raid barrier since they also explode on death. I havent really done this, but it makes sense.

I do try to get a boomalope or two to fuel my generators early.

Boomalope has a bigger explosion and gives more meat and leather (although I doubt you'd use them for meat or leather lol)
Boomrat is easier to tame (pretty sure) with a smaller explosion and can dodge enemy attacks better...so its easier to deliver the payload

Didn't know about the chem fuel thing. Last time randy gave me a boomrat I restricted it to a beach zone so it starved.

My 2nd colony started with a boomrat as a pet. Sold it to a trader since I didn't want that fire risk and it wouldn't give me chemfuel, luckily the guy it was bonded to is one of the more mentally stable people I have seen in the game so far so the super long -10 mood modifier didn't hurt me.

Pen up your boomalopes, a timber wolf or any carnivore getting within a screen of them can make anyone nervous.
