How in the h*** do i deal with the emi dynamo
I received a quest saying that a camp nearby is setting up an "EMI Dynamo" and that it will cancel all electricity in a 10 square radius on the world map. I went to the camp with 4 of my soldiers and took out the resistance but the large machine that is labeled EMI Dynamo is impervious to anything I do. I cant claim it, deconstruct it, and it is immune to damage.

Then when i leave the camp it says in the notifications EMI Dynamo Destroyed but the camp remains on the map with the 10 square radius continuing to cancel all electricity.

Is this a bug or am I doing something wrong?

https://www.rimworldwiki.com/wiki/Mechanoid_cluster says it must be destroyed to kill the cluster, but if that's functionally impossible in your game then that certainly sounds like a bug.

(I've yet to see it in my own game, so I'm not certain on how it's done - though I would have expected damaging it to be the solution too.)

Do you have a save from before you arrived at the destination, that you can roll back to?

If so, I'd try again - and if that doesn't work, see if you can replicate the error again without any mods in your game (if possible).

All Mechanoid structures should be possible to damage with melee and ranged attacks that aren't EMP. Some structures are immune to fire though, such as turrets. You should submit a bug report with a copy of your save. Turn on dev mode and just remove the EMI from your map since it sounds bugged out.

thanks yes Ive tried everything, even deconstructing everything around it, no previous save unfortunately. oh well appreciate the responses.

Those are the situations I don't mind using Dev Mode for. Try destroying it with the dev tools.

if there are no pointers for how to destroy or deactivate it using devmode sounds reasonable as it can be deemed a bug then

I was confused by this when I came across it as I could not destroy it by right-clicking on the EMI dynamo structure. I solved this by manually clicking the 'attack' option and then clicking on the structure; my colonists proceeded to reduce it to smouldering rubble.

CONFRIMED:

Had this issue myself. Mead's workaround of manually clicking the weapon your pawns have equipped and selecting to attack the EMI structure allows them to attack and destroy it.

It seems that for whatever reason, the handy right click to attack is bugged in of itself.

I don't think it's a bug per se, pawns dont auto attack non hostile buildings (eg anything that isnt a turret. It's the same for the buildings that create mechs as well as their 'sleeping' containers, as with anything not a turret placing your pawns within range and clicking 'B' and then the target will make em wreck it.
