Respawning the mining in your map tile idea?
So, if you like the spot your in, could you take appart EVERYTHING you have, and pack it up into a caravan, it would be immoveable of course cause of the weight, but if you abondon the city, could you settle back in the same spot and have the map sorta reset?

i don't believe you can settle in the same spot as you already abondon a settlement (i can be wrong they changed it)

but why would you? if the map resets, you would need to rebuild everything, wouldn't it be easier to use ground scanner to infinitly spawn drillable orepots or use the long range scanner and start a caravan to get the ores from there?

According to the game, when you abandon a sttlement you can never go back to that tile. So if your idea was to dismantle everything and come back for the supplies later or hoping that by coming back it would reset everything. im almost positive you cant. Its kind of like when you go on a quest or something involving using a caravan and you dont have enough carrying capacity for all the rewards for whatever reason it is. So you have to abandon an item or two. Which means that once you abandon an item on a caravan run you never have the chance of getting it back. im sure it works just the same as abandoning your home tile. So if you are going to leave your home for new lands you may as well try to bring everything you can. I know one of my buddies had to move his colony to a new tile since he ran out of most of the good building materials. so he packed up his most important things and brought as much of the resources he needed like steel and slate by decconstructing walls so that way when he moved his colony to their new home he would have even more resources to work with.

well i meant put all the stuff in the pack animals so your overloaded and cant move, then use all those mats in the same tile you jus came from heh.

im super struggling for steel right now, have like 5000 marble blocks and 5000 granite blocks after making my whole base fine tile heh. but steel. i got the ground pen scanner going, but its not like it used to be, now it has to be manned and a progress meter goes up, :( lol.

oh i get you. but yea it would still stand that when you abandon anything in game its never retrievable or reuseable. including living tiles. Only way i could think of you to get more steel is just to pack up your stuff and move to another tile. annoying to do but if you really need something it might need to happen. though id go look up if theres a way to make a small seperate colony in another area that just farms resources for your main colony that your running out of? I've not reached the point to need to try something like that yet. but i am running into issues where im running out of certain resources for repairing things that get damaged mostly. I know steel and silver are going to be two of my main issues eventually since i dont have much of those left to mine. If i remember correctly i heard from somewhere you could make a smaller sub colony on another tile to just collect resources from. But i cant confirm myfelf if that is indeed something you can do. But its worth looking into.

you can go into the optons menue and increase the number of allowed colonies, that way, you can keep your old colony and move some of your colonists out in another tile to mine there.
getting a common oretype like steel or compacted machinery should be easy that way. harder would be plasteel, gold or such would me much harder to farm this way. and remember, every colony you are doing like this will remain as a ruin after abondoning it. you can also get a mod like 'set up camp' which gives you are random map, but its very small and you might need to move a few tiles until you get one with steel
