RimWorld

Do nobles just idle and do nothing.
God, I just made my main colonist a countess, only to realize how wrong it is.

She used to be a hard working teen with anime face and a hot body, everyone loves her....before she descend into a lazy do-nothing degenerate arrogant pile of trash that refuses to even hunt or research.

I'm already thinking about becoming a rebel.

I made the mistake of making my 3 main colonists royalty (Knights and above) before I discovered that each one of them wanted a bloody throne room for themselves and wouldn't work.

Also, I just completed a quest that gave me (I'm not kidding here) 10 named linked weapons that only Knights and above can wield unless you happen to find a suppressor...Yea, I think being a rebel is where it's at.

Rebels dont get inspirational speeches.
Grand Throne Rooms, great bedrooms.
They dont get summonable reinforcements for the cost of some favor.
They dont get stuff as easily as a Noble does either.

So hey if you didnt make your pawn specific the job of Noble well not sure what to say.

Well this is my first play through with the Royalty DLC so I'm still learning the mechanics

Yeah well, I didn't know nobles will get all their jobs disabled, even hunting and doctoring, should've made my main an expert fighter with high social skill.

If she's a royal...then yeah its only natural that they do nothing and become useless wastes of space. THEY'RE ROYALTY. why would a king or queen knuckle down and start mining or working the fields? i mean honestly. that's what the peasants are for. like, think about it man, it makes all the sense as to why they act like that. there's a mod that changes this, if you'd like or don't make your pawns Royal. fight against Royalty instead.

As a colony leader making life and death decisions day in and day out I would think it would give you pause as to whether the cost benefit math really works out.

From a base game design stand point I fail to see how royalty meshes, what was once a group of people sharing skills to stay alive on a desolate rock out on the rim is transformed into just some of the colony working to survive while some sit around eating bon-bons and making demands.

I suppose as rather too on the noise social commentary it works but I'm not remotely convinced it fits the base game or was the best choice for first DLC content.

That's why it's DLC. Most of the damned mods on the workshop don't fit the base game but people still download them anyway.

Should at least let nobles be an artist, doctor or hunter, but add a hidden 'lazy' trait so they don't work as much, maybe a mood debuff when forced to work, it makes more sense to me.

My main has a medical skill of 13, she's the best doctor in the colony but it's just irritating that she 'refuses to do doctoring' to a fellow comrade bathed in blood and waiting to be rescued 2 feets away.

Nobles in this game are basically arrogant and cold blooded fighter mages, is an interesting addition to the game but having all jobs disabled is a bit too much. Imagine winning a hard raid with all colonists down except your noble, and she refuses to save people, it's a small colony with only a couple of people and she already thinks she's the Queen of the Rim.

Nothing the good old naked fistfighting with jaguars can't solve, although personally I'd never let them go above Yeoman rank.
If any of the Empire's visitors come along, there's always ''accidents'' that can be arranged as well, like locking them in a room and then superheating it.
Depending on how modded your game is, and if you're in mountainous terrain, it might be worthwhile to wall off the map edges and block the gates there before cranking up zombie spawning and combat prowess to maximum, or walling off wherever a shuttle lands, perhaps trapping a noble inside somewhere and letting him starve.

There is a mod to fix it, though. <https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2008359342>
