Trouble is that a lot of commentors get upset about what Royals get restricted too rather than thinking about how to build them.
Royals can be really good prison wardens, traders, and deal with other factions quite well due to the obvious need for them to have Social skill.
The psy powers benefit from being at close range so shield belts, marine armor, and melee is a good fit for them.
Royals were actually a part of the game before the DLC, its just that if that back story popped it would also show incapable of Dumb Labor and X and Y...So people passed them up all the time or banished them from the colony. Now Royals are more fully fleshed out its complaints that royals cant haul bricks or plant a garden. Well the thing is they couldnt do so in the past either, but now that there are powers involved its oh my Royal should be able to craft furniture or work on potted plants!
Royals have other job opertunities that would have had to be completed in the colony anyway, so its not really a loss if you plan and work with it right...Its a net gain.

Royal can be built as a front line melee caster nuke.
Dont know what all the powers are but nothing can run away from my Royal...Had a prison break the other day...Just stun locked the guy with stun spell.
Another Royal had Beckon, literally made a Sniper leave his perch and walk into machine gun fire.
Casted Pain resistance on a Pawn that fell over in combat, he got up walked himself to the clinic.

right.
at least right now! (i can imagin this will change at some point)
if you click on the 'i' of a recon gear (armor or helmet) under apparel, it states 'max satisfied title' and it shows count (the highest title you can earn in game).
I would love some golden power armor for higer titles (Emperor), if we see them eventually.
