RimWorld

Recommend me series or movies similar to RimWorld
I have played the game again thanks to Royalty DLC, and I would like to see some movies or series of universes that are similar to RimWorld's (since it doesn't have productions based on its own lore)

I've already seen series like Firefly or movies like Dune, which has inspired the game by their universe (according to Tynan), but I'd like to see something else... The Dark Matter series or Killjoys could also approach the lore of Rimworld for example...

Any recommendation?

I would say the film "starship troopers" for the lolz but that film is kinda old now, don't know if it still holds up.

I think spaghetti western films would be quite fitting as well, there's definitely an element of that kind of oregon trail era mixed in with fighting bandits in Rimworld.

A lot of other sci-fi stuff seems fitting too.

Can't think of many games similar to rimworld other than your standard god game/survival ones like banished or frostpunk.
Factorio? haven't played that one yet but it might be another option.

How old are you and how knowledgeable are you about movies/tv?
If you have played Rimworld, then you should be able to draw comparisons yourself.
Yes, many have compared it to the tv show Firefly (Serenity, the movie) due to the same space cowboy theme. So too, to Starship Troopers due to the presence of infestations. Dune is a bit of a stretch and would only apply with regard to the Royalty DLC due to the feudal space opera and psychic power themes it uses.
As for other known media, most post apocalyptic movies would do, such as the Mad Max saga (without the vehicles),The Road, The Book of Eli, A Boy and his Dog, The Postman, The Colony etc.
For TV, I could also suggest Dark Skies or Defiance.

Yeah, I didn't remember Starship Troopers, that might be a good movie to see.

I agree, Rimworld is similar to westerns, for example it could be similar to Cowboys versus Aliens, because in a normal western there is no futuristic technology...

As for the games you mention, they could be similar, but I wanted to focus more on series or movies that were similar.

Thanks for your answer

The fact that it's similar to Doom and Firefly isn't from me, it's from Tynan himself in the description of the game, and he's actually right, it has similar things and a similar environment. That's why I wanted to find more similar science fiction productions.

Regarding your question, I'm 30 years old, but I don't care what time it is, I have an open mind for all kinds of series or movies from now or another time.

Thanks for all your recommendations, I'll take a look at them!

Not to mentioning all of the war crimes... damn, it's actually pretty close to rimworld
mhh...unwanted surgeries, on living human beeings, to extract their bone marrow...yeah.

A bit of a necro going on in this thread, but what the hell. Aside from the lack of vehicles, I've often found the Mad Max movies to be an inspiration for the Rim. Thunderdome in particular for Ideology.

Going to suggest one that people aren't going to want to admit, but will think about it for a second and begrudgingly agree I have a point.

Lightyear.

Yes, the Buzz Lightyear movie. The more you think about it, the more you realize it's probably as close as you can get to a Rimworld movie.

Turbo Kid. If only Rimworld had bikes.

"Silo" on AppleTV (and the book "Wool" on which it's based).
And, if anyone wants to read books, the "Ender's Game" series, especially the second and third books.

Tribes of Europa could be worth a shout - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tribes_of_Europa

It is (or at least was) on Netflix in Ireland/UK (and presumably in Germany too).
