RimWorld

RimWorld

I want to convert a room into a death trap (vanilla suggestion only)
So i have a room that is awfully near of the edge of the map (i discovered it later by mining) and i want to transform it into a room to burn people alive.
of course wood floor and fire mines for that but, how (if possible) can i make a door/device to close doors behind foes and give them a nice barbeque?

There's no way to really automate that in vanilla. There are some things you could do to make it easier and safer, but there's really not a good way to just "flip a switch" or do it all automatically.

Wood floor and HE IEDs and plenty of wood/furniture/flammables with a colonist building a wall behind them would probably be the simplest. (Note: Pawns can build "diagonally." They can build into an empty diagonal square while having walls on either side protecting them. It's an easy way to protect a pawn that's building a block to trap enemies. At least, unless it was patched out. :))

Thanks this will help but i will need to figure out a way to make it work
you can build a winding narrow passage with an OPEN door at the start and end... and once they enter the maze... you can hide a guy at the start point to close the door behind them. probably put the IEDs in the middle somewhere and shut the doors when they are near the middle of the maze after triggering the fire trap. doesn't work against sappers/siegers or mech clusters.

Well, you can stare at it long enough and that might force it to provide the mechanics necessary to automate a room-trap in Rimworld. But... that may not happen anytime soon. :)

If you figure it out, post it! You'll be a Hero and win +100 Internetz points! :)

Notes:

You can use Zoning to send tamed Boomalopes/Boomrats in there, if you'd like. Raiders will attack them on sight.

You can support a max-size roof with just one wooden wall segment, then turn on a set of turrets when the Raiders are moving past it. It's likely the wooden wall will be destroyed, dropping the roof on the Raiders. Stack some chemfuel beside it for added fun. (The Wiki has a collection of similarly devious traps.)

Thanks but internet points is kinda meaningless honestly.
I appreciate the cheer tho.
i do not have access to boomrats since i live in the tundra and i kinda want to make a fire-based trap in that place.
so far i made it roofed (with the help of overhead mountains) single path maze with no traps (these things are expensive when you have 200 layed) all of wood/bridge path with a few fire mines placed.
the since there is only one enter/exit for the room(the other exit is blocked by a door) they will definitivelly cook alive.
i look foward for raiders to spawn here
edit: i forgot to mention that my pawns can safely pass through without even touching a mine.
I thought of it do not worry

A way I do it is imagine entry goes to a T intersection with one door held open into killroom, other door is a bypass hall. So when they get in room, hop out of bypass hall and close door behind em.
