What exactly do you want to upgrade?
Walls? Stone doesn't burn. Steel does. Stone much harder to break through.
Furniture? Wood is more beautiful than most stones (except marble). Vastly more beautiful than steel. Burning still applies.

Not true in the slightest.
Wall material type has zero effect on insulation, only if it's 1 or 2 blocks thick.

Stone, stone, stone!

That is the wall materal you want to use is stone!

Not all stone is equal. There are several different types of stone.
Some have more hp than others.

dont use steel for walls
use stones, follow real life examples
buildings should be stone

wood is fastest to construct and easy to get so use it to build first. Later, when you have enough blocks you should rebuild all the walls out of stone. Otherwise your happiness will go up in smoke.

He is clearly asking about production benches and the like, not walls. Tailor's bench, Research bench, Drug lab, etc.

I'm sorry I can't help you there. I've wondered why you'd want a Uranium Stonecutter's table too. For aesthetic purposes perhaps?

for production in vanilla it makes no difference
if you want it to make a difference i advise HCSK where every alloy has its own benefits and negatives

In the early game, build your production benches out of the most readily available commodity your map biome offers.
So, if there is plenty of wood, then use wood and if not then use steel.
In the mid to late game (certainly after you have deep drilling working) it doesn't really matter what you use as long as it is required.

uranium is inflammable and almost as strong as steel.

uranium is inflammable and almost as strong as steel.

It also puts your colony wealth up higher.

Which really only serves to make the game harder.

Making things tends to make you less rich, since things are usually cheaper than raw material.
