How do I spawn things into a caravan's inventory?

I went to fulfill a caravan request, and somehow a couple of the items I was supposed to bring disappeared from the caravan's inventory...I know how to spawn things physically on the ground in a played area, but how can I put things in a caravan's inventory?

The best way is to actually pack them into the caravan before departing.

Swear that I did, don't know what happened. I made 13 gladiuses for the order and packed all of the available ones (guess I didn't count them...) and they arrived with 11. The otheer 2 are nowhere in my base.

I'm also trying to look through the save XML to find the caravan's inventory but I'm not seeing it

Send the caravan whatever they need en route by transport pod. Tell the caravan to camp and send the pods with the extra supplies to them directly. As long as it's still within their weight capacity, you're good to go ;)
If you haven't researched them yet, you'll just have to order the caravan to go back home or send another to them.

Or I can just spawn in the cargo pods lol. But that's a great tip, thanks a lot :D

you could also make a home base #2 next to it not far away spawn the items in and leave to the place then abandon settlement
