Hm, OK so then... Maybe having a huge barn with 5 sun lights growing devilstrand is NOT a great idea?
But is it "colony's PRODUCTION" or "colony's VALUE"? The distinction is important. If it's the first, then I could see giving my colony a mostly military slant and attacking / pillaging others for the rest? But if it's the second, then pillaging valuables would then just increase expectations accordingly?
On a more serious note, check Mods/Core/Defs/Misc/ExpectationDefs/Expectations.xml if you want to know the details. E.g. max wealth for extremely low expectations (i.e. +30 mood boost) is 15k.
Specifically for your question, scroll to the "Misc" section. New colony optimism / New colony hope are given from the start of the game - the former lasts five days, and is replaced by the latter, which lasts another five days. Also look at "Situation General" - in that section, look at the "Expectations" part. Clicking on any of them brings you to the relevant subsection, which shows you what the different wealth cutoffs are.
