Now, that said, its not THE BEST material. Thrumbofur, synthread, and hyperweave are all better than devilstrand IIRC. Though these are harder to obtain than planting a 20x20 field of devil strand and waiting.
EDIT - See here for table of variance: https://rimworldwiki.com/wiki/Textiles
EDIT2 - Devilstrand is in the top 3 of all materials for everything other than cold insulation.
EDIT3 - Now I want to make a chinchilla farm...
You know... I learn half of the worlds slurs from ♥♥♥♥♥♥ censorship...
edit: actually devil is good for keeping cool also.
its garbage. It's "stylish" material to be resold. It probably should get a morale buff or something.
Devilstrand is THE best for fireproofing
It is second behind Hyperweave for blunt armor
It is third behind Thrumbofur and Hyperweave for Pierce resistance.
It gives grotty cold protection, about the same as a bearskin.
It gives awesome heat protection, just weaker than camelhair and Hyperweave
And, it has a very nice red color.
So generally, Hyperweave is superior, Devilstrand is a close second and Thrumbofur third.
Synthread is a solid 17th, in this ranking.
