Anything I can do about dementia?
Just wondering because after a really long toxic fallout most of my colonists have it. Is there a way to fix, cure or implant something to deal with it?

Healer mech serum, and lucifermium are the only ways in VanillaI. Maybe the AI persona core can be used to replace the brain in Vanilla, I don't remember. But all those ways are either extremely expenisive or extremely dangerous.

Just for future games, when you get fallout, build roofs between building and restrict everyone to only roofed areas until it clears. You really shouldn't be having people outside during it.

It can not.

I think the only option is the mech serum, lucky I have a couple saved up. I just hope next time the fallout doesn't last 24 days.

They only get dementia if you leave them outside in an unroofed area for an excessive amount of time. You don't have to restrict everyone to the base all the time, you can have people out working the map, mining, hauling, whatever, just watch their severity of toxic buildup and if it gets above like 30% bring them back inside and limit them to the base until it drops to a safe level. Dementia only happens if severity is above 40%, though very rarely at that point, it happens much more often as severity goes above 60%. It's pretty easy to manage without anyone suffering any permanent health effects. I've played several games with toxic fallout as a permanent map condition.

Before the next time you have toxic fallout, build roofs along the main pathways they take. Don't let anyone stay outside in the open once they have minor buildup.

I thought all this did was give you exp in medical

what about a brain implant painstopper? would that override the brain damage?

No

But they would stop worrying about it.
Or any other pain source.
Set a Painstopped colonist on fire, and they *might* douse the fire.. Just to stop the smoke, you know... Or not, if there is anything else going on that is interesting.

Dementia wouldn't be considered 'pain' by the game so a painstopper wouldn't work, it's a permanent psychological condition . usually I would just have swapped out the offending organ but there's no brain transplanting in vanilla RW.

It's been a while, but I think i fixed it with a healer mech serum or whichever one has a chance to fix negative medical conditions at random. I do remember it took a few serum to fix though because the serum only fixes 1 trait and that dude was put through the ringer twice before getting the serums.

ya, from what i can tell, frail toros and old scars and old gun shots also need this serumn to heal up.

That would be the neurotrainer mech serum. Healer mech serum heals pawns.

Yeah, I've only only found them in vanilla through trading with space traders. You could also add some to the start of a custom run:lunar2019grinningpig:
lucifermium has no downside :)

And it tastes so good that whenever I have a labrador in my compound they can't help but eat it all!
