Meal stacking problem (seperate stacks)
So i have cooks set to produce 100 lavish meals but some of the meals won't stack with the other lavish meals.
Ive tested by making one stockpile exactly 10 tiles wide (10 in stack) and the moment it is full of stacks the leftover meals say 'nowhere to store; when i right click on them.
What the hell is up with this? is it becauuse they have different ingredients? if so how the hell am i supposed to use stockpiles and bill limits effectively?
is this a bug?

No. Are you sure they are all lavish and you don't have some fine meals in there? Or some of the stacks could be "reserved" by another colonist which prevents moving items onto them.

Nope definately lavish and the tooltip says no available space even though there are clearly unfilled stacks.
To add none of them are rotting or any difference i can see except ingredients (not human/insect meat) like some have 3 items and some have 2 items used.

I had an issue like this when I had removed a mod that caused a conflict. Example: I had a smoked meat mod that made meat last a lot longer. It was working wonky for not being updated in a long while, so I removed it. The meals I had would not stack with the meals I was making afterwards. I ended up having to move the old meals outdoors to let them rot away to get rid of them.

Have you changed your mods since noticing this?

well i'll be damned as i wrote that i had a strange theory (game minimized to type) and just tested, guess what it is...
For some reason there is a hidden distance between hauling an item and the distance to the stockpile in my game, if i pick it up into inventory manually then draft the pawn, walk them right next to the stockpile and drop it suddenly they can haul it again.

Basically the difference between the meals was the distance to the stockpile what the heck is that about? anyhoo my problem is solved but what a strange rule to have in the code....

That sounds like a mod thing to me. I have never had issues with distance like this. Granted, my kitchen is always right next to my freezer... Regardless, this doesn't sound vanilla to me.

Try clicking on a meal stack in the stockpile, thats not stacked to the max, and click Tidy up stockpile. Should force the pawn to stack the meals.

There are mods that deal with "haul to stack", if the issue is what I describe.

yeh i have a lot of mods including a couple that change how hauling works but none of them a throwing errors and none are supposed to effect distance that i know of but i cba to do a binary search lol so i guess i'll just make sure my stockpiles are close together or selected directly from the bill.
Guess that's the bane of installing mods but hey ho not a game breaker just irritating is all, thnx for the replies pepes :)
