Soaking Wet + Hot
Shouldn't these cancel each other out instead of stacking? It's a heat wave at my colony and taking a dip in the river somehow makes it worse?

Dont question the logic.

Well wet clothes aren't really that comfy no matter the temperature. But I do agree. I also think they should avoid water if they don't need to go into it. My hunter recently got soaking wet while hunting some megasloth because he just wandered into the water, which was completely unnecessary.

Depends where you live. I'm coastal which means humid. Which means getting wet just makes it SO MUCH ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ WORSE OH LORD. Seriously, thanks to the damp humid air it won't dry out at all and then it just heats up and it's like you're wearing a personal sauna except it smells and chafes your skin as you move, and generally a bad time. If you're lucky theres a strong wind which introduces some basic windchill to dry it out but more often than not it's just an all around awful experience. And if that isn't the reason they're miserable even in a arid enviroment it'd be a bad time since surface water would be boiling hot. Not as bad as the sun mind you but still able to ruin your day. While it wouldn't last as long it'd still be a right awful experience for someone.

Yeah I know this experience all too well. I've lived on the coast all my life. Being wet isn't nearly as benefical as you'd think and cold weather's just as bad too. Just swap all the hot for cold and some "oh crap I can't feel my toes" moments. Water is not a humans friend by any means. We can handle it but, that ♥♥♥♥ is not your friend. At all. Ever. I like my water in a glass thank you.

Bit over the top here you say? Nope. Try dressing up, dunking yourself in the shower for 10 minutes so you're sopping wet, and then go do work outdoors for a few hours. If the tempature doesn't drive you bonkers the constant chafing of your clothes on skin until you bleed will. Thats what you're pawn is pissy about. ♥♥♥♥ sucks.

Uft...man down!

To OP: I don't know where you live, but the next time you find yourself in 100+ (F) temperatures, go jump in some water, fully clothed of course, until you are soaking wet and then see how you feel in an hour or so. Remember, you also have to carry out tasks while in this condition just like your colonists do.

I don't think these should cancel each other out. Going in a river during a heat wave does not adaquatly cool you

I should have known I'd get a reply from a diddler like yourself when I made that joke.

Unlike you fantasizing about your own mother, I can get a girl. You should try it sometime. Don't know how much luck you'd have though.

Maybe not cancel out, but it should be reduced (by increasing max comfortable temperature). Look up treatment for heat stroke to find a (to the people in this thread) surprising amount of water.
Myriad Sep 15, 2018 @ 11:26am
It depends what kind of hot. I've jumped in the ocean on hot days and dried off in minutes after coming out.

But if it's a humid hot, it's just going to make you all sticky... I'll refrain from making another joke...

Alex thats ingesting water as in drinking it not dunking it all over yourself like it's a wet t-shirt contest. Christ you just google it or something? Half those treatments are requiring cooled liquids or ice. You don't get those in rimworld not even with mods. What you're referring to is emergency treatment methods for after someones baked alive. Also if they're done wrong you send someone into shock from the whiplash temperature shifting. Trust me it's not a fun experience.

Being soaked really won't help much at all I know that from experience working outdoors. You'd maybe get like in game terms 3, 4 degrees fahrenheit if you're lucky and not actually stop the onset of heatstroke. Plus evaporation cooling requires a dry arid enviroment which is well past rimworld.

Common sense would easily indicate how stupid this comment is.

You must not have ever spent any time in hot, humid climate.

Try spending a day in 120F-degree weather, then jump into a pool of water that's 90F+degrees, and tell me how much that provides a relief. (Hint: The answer is "not much".)

Also, the "heat stroke" analogy is completely out of the realm of this conversation. Heat stroke is a serious threat to health. We're talking bout a slight mood debuff.

Mr. Schopenhauer just mentioned that someone's mom has been.
