Best weapons to train shooting?
I want to develop shooting by hunting animals. Which weapon do you suggest and do you recommend low quality ones to reduce accuracy?

A LMG or an assault rifle

Assault rifle is too accurate and damaging to train shooting I think.

Anything with a high rate of fire.

Minigun.

Never thought to use a minigun, but that would work, just be prepared to run because more often than not you're only gonna piss the animal off and it's gonna want payback.

Do miniguns in b19 have forced miss ?

Yeah, you will hit OCCASIONALLY, but if it's just training you're after then it'll be great for that I believe.

But each burst gives Xp only one time I think. So non burst weapon with high rate fire would be ideal.

I know for sure in b18 you gained exp for the entire length of the burst. While I never used a minigun I assumed it was reasonable.

Honestly though for b19 I can't be for sure.

One would think but no.
You need like 5ish shots from autopistol for 1 "shot" from minigun for same amount of xp.
Though you might stand a better chance of running away from a mad animal with pistol compared to minigun because of the cooldown.
But just hunt a rat or something else with 0% revenge on harm.

Ok , hmg, lmg, machine pistol and minigun are good then. Maybe chain shotgun? Its low accuracy and burst fire allow me to shoot repeatedly.

Autopistol is the best choice to level. It is the fastest and does low damage, allowing you to hit animal many times before killing.

Auto pistol and machinepistol. The way the shooting mechanics work is every trigger pull gets you experience. Those guns have the shortest reload and aiming timer so you get off more trigger pulls on those specific weapons.

Usually you only want to give a pistol to someone level 4 in shooting or lower. They will have a very low hit rate and a faster recovering gun will actually help their DPS more than an assault rifle of sniper rifle would. The same tactic applies with melee. Knives belong on unskilled fighters, Ilkwa on the experienced fighters and longswords on fighters who are beyond 10 melee skill.

Just shoot small animals

My procedure ...

Keep early game pistols. Leave pistols outside to rot down below 10% (lowers accuracy). Place pawn on night shift. Draft pawn after dusk. Shoot small animals.

In B19, the missed shots can wake animals up. (edit, also in b19, the handler skill effects stealth shown as hunting skill). If you prefer not to draft, have the pawn only hunt and manually assign the hunting targets (right click select one animal, then shift-right click the other small animals to place them in a que) ... That ensures the pawn always has a target when the other target leaves his range (if more than one target in range).

The fastest weapon is the best, IMO ... but whatever works for the player is best.
