The worst is when you still have a lot off wood structures and you get the "Boomalope self-tames!" message... Mouse hovering over the slaughter button... Sweating bullets...
I once had a merchant caravan coming to my base in the middle of a -30° winter... It had boomrats for selling... You can probably guess what happened...
Yeah, I didn't really pay attention to those critters, so they just went down and died fast to hypothermia, exploding and wounding their handlers. For whatever reason, the settlement which sent them hated me afterwards as it probably registered those explosions as attacks from me... lol

I prefer pets that have use inside my own base. There are three exceptions to "must be use on MY map", mostly based on coolness in different ways. If romarats were cool because of boom, boomalopes are cooler for that (and you can milk the females... and the males )
