Is there a way to spawn in more steel?
I am using a mod and have ended up depleting my starting areas steel rather quickly and I have not yet unlocked deep drilling so I was wondering if there is a setting in the dev console to spawn in more? I know I can spawn in meteorites but if theres a way to control what they are made out of I dont know what it is and I dont want to just start spaming random materels all over the place. Is there some setting in there I can use to solve my problem?

I remember there being something like "spawn in stacks of 75" and you'll find steel there.
You can also move few tiles away from your colony with a mining caravan and deplete steel over there.

Was kind of hoping to avoid that one as it might be a while before I can form a caravan and I will need quite a lot of it so I feel like I am cheating quite a bit spawing it in already mined. If there arent any other options I likely will have to use that one.

Yes, dev mode has multiple tools to spawn items in various quantities, directly or nearby. There's a entire section of the dev tool menu for it.

If you want to do it without cheating: Go into the game options and make sure you're allowed to form multiple colonies. Then form a caravan, move two tiles over on the world map, and settle. Dig up steel there and form a caravan again to transport the steel back to your main.

As an alternative, take a mission to destroy a bandit base and, after winning, tear up their buildings(solar panel, lamps, sandbags, etc.) for steel.

out of curiosity, what needs all that steel while you haven't gotten to where you can easily do a caravan?

also, did you dig into hills to see if there was steel in there? you can also go the drug route and just buy it.

Rimfeller and dubs bad hygiene. Particularly Rimfeller to get power you need to dig a well that is 120 steel and then the drilling process is like 250 more then you need a refinery that is 240 and tanks for both fuel and oil at 100 each and a power generator is like 800. A few tanks a refinery and a pair of rigs and power generators is going to get you close to 4k steel on its own and I am in the jungle so I needed to set up quite a bit of AC and that also ate a lot of metal.

I did actually find a solution in another one of my mods the Quarry mod actually can make steel so I kind of solved my own problem lol.

There's actually a mod I just started using, to make steel trees. I see it as cheating, but it's less cheating than using dev tools to just spawn what you need. With the trees, you still have to sow, wait, harvest, and that's precious time.
