So every video guide I've watched is playing with the cheat menu?
If it's stuck for you in the tutorial that's the way to go.
It's probably a bug.
You build a research bench/table, then you can access your research tab on the bottom of the screen
from there you can start to research solar panels but I would recommend researching batteries first then solar
while you wait on research, for food have your workers make simple meals until you have x, I usually set it to 2 at start, because simple meals deteriorate much faster than just leaving potatoes or rice in a non climate controlled storage
a prepared meal last 3-4 days
raw rice can sit in storage for 20-30 days
once you have a freezer you can have them make as many as you want, once frozen they wont rot
I think everyone has to research those two now. Of course, tribals need a lot more to get there!
So, in every video I've seen they happily build the solar panels and freezer long before the research bench? Did some recent update make all of these guides effectively obsolete?
I probably sound like I'm over-reacting- its just that every...♥♥♥♥♥♥♥....video guide happily builds the solar panels and freezer and fearmongering about how you need the freezer ASAP or food will spoil.
I'm pretty new to the game myself, it may be older videos or they used the cheat thing that someone else suggested in here, but being I'm new I couldn't say for sure
Yep, you can definitely create a scenario like that.
You are probably safe to follow those guides for now, but it really isn't necessary for freezers super early. But that "not necessary" may only apply once you have a bit of experience, I've been playing for years now, so my radar is prob a bit off on that.
Think you may need to repeat that for each research you want to add.
I think I'm going to add 1 free research for every time I've pre-emptively restarted because "welp, no point in playing anymore because no solar panels and all those video guides said I need to get a freezer"
