Chairs for productivity stations?
Do they do anything? Like, my peeps go stand at a station and work, but if I build a chair and put it there, does it make any difference?

Unless it changed, no (in relation to output). It does, however, make them more comfortable. In the long run, this is beneficial. It also can improve the room decor, depending on your chair building level.

Got it. Thanks!

Chairs improve work speed at stations if placed on the where they would be working while standing otherwise.

Good to know! That's where I put them.

In case anyone else stumbles across this, you get a mood penalty if your dudes stand around too long, and a mood bonus if they sit in comfy chairs. When working on a workstation they use the comfort of the chairs rather than standing; so unless you expect them to spend very little time at any given station its in your best interest to at least put a stool there, if not high quality dining chairs.

Would they want a chair at a place like an electric stove or chopping block? They tend to not spend a lot of time standing in these two areas.

Your advice is more for sewing and artwork stations, right?

If they're going to be there for a while, a dining chair, if only for a little bit, a stool. Always good to have a chair, but, not important for short lived tasks (like butchering, even in a rather large colony it only goes on for a little while).

Chairs improve the speed of the workers working at any given station that are properly placed. The best thing you can do is start with a stool and work your way up, becuase then that means more bonus you get inreturn when working(Speed to get things done). However, keep in mind that you need to keep the right individuals tasking at what they excell at when working otherwise you wont notice the increase in efficiency.

Is this a new feature? If you claim it isnt, then I would like to see evidence. Not saying you are wrong, but I am certain this was not the case on previous versions.

I'm not sure this wasn't only coincidence, but: I routinely build at leat a Dining Room Chair at every workstation. In a workstation that is off-the-beaten-path (in a separate are near the crops) my best crafstman built a Masterwork chair.

One of my craftsman paws who alway rushes over to one of the high-tech tables whenever there is a job will now go the full length of the compound, from his bedroom aaaaallll the way to that one workstation with the Masterwork chair.

Sure, he's rolling weed... But, still, there's gotta be something else going on. The masterwork chair?

Note: Not sure they consider this, but a colonist with a crafting passion gets a bit of joy from crafting. Rolling joints makes a lot of quick Joy hits, pun intended. Would it be possible they'd consider that? I doubt it, since that's a pretty advanced consideration, but...
