My advice is pay attention to the quirks of the colonists you chose, some can be really bad and also watchout for what is making low moods and try to solve it
Only thing i can say is: don't lock yourself in one run.
As soon as you feel like starting over, start a new landing.
Just be aware of the Oblivion-style scaling & initial grace-peroid. They give you a false sense of security & difficulty spike real hard after a certain point.
The game is dull as rocks late game researching and building the ship.
Cassandra Classic will stack up problems till it will break you.
The point is, you will die a lot.
It isn't difficult ot get into. Especially if you can watch videos along with someone as you play. A multiplayer/coop mod is coming out so if you have someone to play with you can always wait till the mod is finished and play along with someone to get the ropes :D
