Why is my cooler not working?
everytime i play the game i die by hunger,i blame no one for that, however, the coolers don't work,i tried to put more coolers to see if that was the problem, but it wasn't,and the food keep rotting, also i put steel walls and concrete floor.

If the red side gets too hot the cooler will have a lot of trouble keeping the blue side cool, so you can't have it blowing into a 1x1 room for example.

you need to set the cooler temp to like say -2 or whatever really low manually. Otherwise they try to make a room's temp 70 F

Are both the red and blue side of the cooler not being blocked by a wall? The blue side it makes cold, the red side it makes warmer.

But doesn't 1x1 work if it's unroofed?

Not very well. Only so much air can flow through a single unroofed tile. The more unroofed tiles in a room the better the air flow, so you might need like a 2x2 unroofed exhaust area for optimal efficiency of a single cooler.

Yes, it works totally fine. It's how I do mine and it's the bees knees.

See that? 2 Coolers blowing into a 1x1 chimney and it works rain or shine. steady -5 all the time. I'm sure I could make it bigger too but there's no need.

It's going to depend on your map. If the temperatures are very mild you don't need much cooling and a 1x1 roofless room might be enough. If you tried to drop the temp down as low as possible it wouldn't be able to cool the freezer nearly as much as if you had a larger exhaust room. Mouse over the exhaust room, if the temperature is higher than the normal outdoor temp then it's lowering the efficiency of your coolers.

Temp kept on going down slowly. This is permadeath save so I can't messs around too much looking at this but I got bored at -40C

Here's the chimney temp:
-4C

Here's the temp out in the air:
-4C

It works just fine..

EDIT:
♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥.. This is what I mean^ I'm messing around with my freezer and only now I'm seeing someone has the plague! And I see Dolly carrying herbal meds.. ffs. The things we do for science.

It's possible the temperature dissipation of an open roof tile has been increased. There should still be a point where it can't dissipate heat fast enough but it might not matter in normal cases now, that's assuming your test isn't being skewed by a mod or bug.

Thinking back on it that might be an unintended side effect of a different nerf. When Tynan changed it so trees can't be grown under a roof he may have increased the rate heat escapes from unroofed tiles to make it difficult/impossible to create a "tree hole" on extreme maps.

Why even do that...nerf that is...

Either way doesn't matter now since he took away our ability to grow trees completely..

I donno, it's strange. Sometimes it seems like it's the opposite. Like my geogenerators. Even with 4 ceiling tiles removed it still gets to 60C in there.

I have the same problem only different, LOL

My cooler is set to -4 deg. It shows food frozen and will "never spoil." But eventually I get a message that food HAS SPOILED. When I check it says food is NOT REFRIDGERATED.

WTH?

As I watched, it went from NOT refridge, to refridge, to FROZEN and continued to fluctuate. Power is more than ample for my early colony and batteries never get below half full. Lights never lose power.

Any ideas on what I'm effing up here?

THANKS IN ADVANCE

That room size is pushing that one cooler to its limit. It's relatively hot outside (within normal ranges of hot) and you only have 1-tile thick walls.

Add another cooler and another layer of wall around the freezer and that should do ya.
