Colonist Changing Beds
So I have two married colonist, they have been assigned a double bed in a room where the beauty is has a 2.4 rating. I built a new couple of rooms for new recruits to be able to have, they are low quality and small, with a 0.3 beauty rating.

The married couple keep leaving the double beds they have been assigned to and moving to the new rooms, then they get the mood debuff of wanting to be together. If I reassign them back to their double beds, the next night they move back to the new area.

No mods, this save has been pure 100% vanilla. Anyone know of a reason why they would be doing this?

That's weird...are you SURE they're in a relationship? If you're not using any mods then it definitely sounds like a bug.
I'm not sure how you go about doing it, but I'd report it. I couldn't imagine there being any reason for that other than it being a glitch.

I've only ever had this happen after sending colonists out on caravans, which makes more sense at least.

Are you sure you're not accidently forbidding them in some way, or making them inaccessible through restricted zoning?

Thanks for your replies, double checked zones, all colonists are on Unrestricted zones. And ya they are in a relationship, i even double checked that. Niether have been on Caravans lately or at all that I recall.

The same happens here. I have 4 maried couples and one engaged. They have been assigned a double bed, but they keep moving to another room, or taking a bed roll. It is not every night. A few days can go by, and then they move out again. It is so annoying. They are still married and get the debuff, for wanting to sleep together, if i forget to reassign them to their double bed. It did start after they have been in a caravan.. but I have had most of my colonist away at one time or another. It would be so great if there was some way, to get them to stay in their bedrooms.

My boyfriend has the same problem with his couples, so it is something in the game it self. Also it has nothing to do with how the room looks. All of the bedrooms of my couples are 4x6 squares and are somewhat impressive. They all have minimum good beds. So it has nothing to do with the room or bed.

I'm having the same problem, too! Even though I'm using mods, I never had this happen in any of my vanilla and modded playthroughs up until the last week or so.

The solution that I got to work was just dismantling the double beds they were assigned to and then rebuild, reassign.

All right, I'll try it out. Still, I hope the bug gets fixed.

Tried that, Didn't work. It is still the same. There doesn't seem to be a pattern in when they stay in their beds, and when they don't, as far as i can tell. It is not every night that they go somewhere else to sleep, but most nights, at least one will go and sleep somewhere else.

Ive been having this issue for quite a while now and I think I might have narrowed down the cause, though I'm still not really certain what to do about it. I believe the cause is being too far from their bed when they want to sleep, so they go to the nearest bed they can find, and assign themselves to that bed in the process. If there is no bed available, they'll settle for the ground and take a mood debuff. No exhaustion, no warning about beds, just willingly sleep on the floor instead of walking to their bed, luckily this doesn't unassign their bed. Drafting them wakes them up, but when you undraft them they will still choose to sleep on the spot, so you have to draft and walk them close enough to their bed so they use it when you undraft them. The easiest way to stop people from changing beds for me was just making sure I don't have any unowned beds (excepting prisoner beds). This seemed to help colonists maintain their assigned beds, but I still find myself drafting my colonists off the ground and to their beds quite often and it's getting a little annoying.
Never seen this regardless of mods, even in largest of humongous maps.
Will keep an eye out for this bug.

I am having the same issue. I am using mods, but none that I can think of that would casuse this.

Justhad this happen - it was a rescricted zone issue. I was losing my damned mind cause they (the demon children I have allowed in my game) were fine sleeping in their parents room, when I built them a room connected to it, they were doing the crazy stuff the animals do, like sleeping in stockpiles and coolers. I forgot to expand their zone. (I keep zones for colonists who move slow due to missing limbs etc and.. USUALLY remember to adjust them when I do add-ons.. )

Whew, I was about to get upset :)

We've had a bunch of people post that they have put the colonist on unrestricted zones and they continued doing the same thing. I am glad you figured out what was causing it for you.

I continue to have this bug as well. Every couple of nights must reassign married couples back to their assigned beds...
Nothing fixes it for me yet...
Ugh
