I know it's a perfectly valid game-mechanics question, but I still suspect that every cat in the world is now offended. "Useful? We are cats!"
I would say their advantage is they dont consume as much food as the haul animals, pig/ big dog, so its up to you depends on your economy

The bottom line, it adds religion and questionable ethics. Both are fun in the chaotic mess that we call rimworld
