Usually outposts with at least turrets and enemies have a high chance of having those.
It sounds like you are at a point that you can make as many batteries as you would want considering the size of outposts you are attacking.
They're good for starting fires in enemy bases when raiding, if you can get the jump on them.
I ran into a prison camp (rescue colonist quest) that had two batteries.
Makes stuff like naked tribal manageable.
Same here ... 2 batteries, eacxh connected to a minigun tower.
I took them both out, out of range of the towers, in order to silence the towers
