There are mod list manager which allows you to turn on and off a pre-defined list of mods.
You turn all of the ones you want on, and save that to a list. This list can be recalled later if they happen to turn off.
Here is a list from a mod manager workshop page
"Restore a saved list of mods
Save the current list of active mods
Load a ModSet from a savegame
Colorize mods in the mod list for better organization
Can import ModListBackup settings
'Copy to local' option for Steam mods - also copies defined settings for the copied mod. Allows manual updates of such local copies to the current version on steam.
(Somewhat assisted) installation help for missing mods
Search bar for mod list
"
and here is said mod

Since I "Unsubbed All" I need to not only activate de-activated mods, but re-sub the entire list of mods that were active.
Is that still doable with the above suggested?
Steam mods are stored at
C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\workshop\content
The numbers are url numbers you cna find in the top left of the screen when you see the page.
so if you look at the upper left right onw it should say
https://steamcommunity.com/app/294100/discussions/0/1736588252366011010/?tscn=1534297622
the 294100 is the url # for this game so the file with matching number is Rimworld workshop mod folder.
The mod's number are the workshop mod page url #.
Just back those up, I think that may work.
else you can sub to mods without opening their repstive mod pages but that isn't really bulk.
In my brute attempt to fix the problem by subbing basically anything I may have had at that time (to then signal the game to activate the mods associated with that save) I may have contaminated the pool of relevant mod files =-/
Isn't there a steam cloud?
It totally came through big time and saved me from losing numerous different saves. Props to the developer.

Yeah, Brrainz is responsible for some great mods AND tools. Brrainz made the harmony tool that many modders use. Think that tool also contributed to greatly increasing the compatibility between mods.
edit: I see RawCode is in this thread, who has also been a long time contributor to mod tools and modding in general for Rimworld. Thanks to you as well! (assuming you are the same RawCode as on the Ludeon forums)
Ah crap I didn't read this thoroughly enough haha well hopefully my accidental transgretion is understood to be free of any malicious intent. It fixed a game for me that I might have otherwise given up on.
Thank you to all who contributed to this thread.
