New traits
Along his/her life can a character get you traits or new favorites skills?

No. At least not in the base game.

The only example I know of that has a mod add traits to colonists is Psychology: after enough combat, pawns gain a "desensitized to violence" trait.

Imho the traits should not be set in stone, you should be able to get some or loose some.
Chem users becoming addicted, someone killing inocents, someone burned several times could be scared by fire like the hound in GOT and not setting everything on fire (that mean an unplayable character) the traits are ofently too charicatural and you can only get rid of those with the worse trat, and traits should be hidden by the way and revealed over time.
