But if cost matters get the I7 8700K it's still better than the Ryzen 2700X in both single and multicore but not by as much. And the cost is within $150

Rimworld does not care much for Multicore but other PC apps and games will. The Ryzen is still the lowest price out of all these. I play Rimworld on I7 7700K which is a tiny, tiny bit slower than I7 8700K single core strength. So you will get about the same performance as I do maybe 1-2% faster. lol But Multicore is decent bit faster than I7 7700k. I don't use 200 mods. But even with 40 mods I get some slow down. But some mods I use are bulky and I play on 325 x 325. And that was before 64-bit Rimworld came out. Which may or may not help with lag? But it will help with memory and how many mods you can use.
