Good Lord, what IS Go-Juice?
I thought it was just a slightly more hardcore scifi version of something like 5-Hour Energy, but this list of withdrawal symptoms sounds like something you'd expect from a crack addict. What IS this stuff?

My recovering addict has had to be arrested after trying to murder his fellow colonists TWICE now.
Probably some engineered opium-like chemical in liquid form. Most of the in-game drugs are just renamed variants of their real-life counterparts, so im sure its ment to be something you could get from an illegal dealer; what it is exactly I have no clue.

I'm pretty sure it's supposed to be not-meth. Alot of it's effects are consistent with it, someone hopped up on meth can do CRAZY stuff like bullrush a firing line and take well over 15 shots to drop unless you nail his head due to the effects. The effects are pretty consistent between the two including the withdrawls. Quitting cold turkey is extremely dangerous for everyone because of how violent people can get trying to get a fix as it sets in. He's behaving exactly like a meth head would in rehab if they cold turkey the guy, just be glad he isn't smart enough to make a shiv on his own.

It's a powerful combat drug since it lets you go way past the normal pain threshold, only luciferium is more potent and that ♥♥♥♥ is nanotech that drives you insane if you don't get your fix. I've seen juicers muscle through having their hands blown off and before the damage overflow was added it'd be pretty common to see one act like a kamikaze rushing your guys until someone finally destroyed his torso or head.

TL;DR that stuff is NOT 5-hour energy shots in a needle. Take it seriously.

That makes sense. I haven't had a lot of experience with meth. Actually the only personal experience I've had with it was finding an abandoned meth lab in a rental property I was contracted to renovate. So I wouldn't know much about it myself.

And yeah, to be fair I didn't put him on the stuff, he came already addicted and I severely underestimated how much ♥♥♥♥ it would be to get him off it.

I've been noticing/thinking the same thing.

Though Luciferium is totally Spice from Dune. Which is equal parts awesome and terrifying. I make sure never to accept anything that rewards Luciferium and forbid it whenever it drops in my Colony lol. Sometimes I'm really tempted to build up a stockpile and just let one of my Pawns go at it...

I'll take the quests if they give other good rewards, and just burn all the Luciferium as soon as they give it to me.

I think this item is a mixture between coffee and those energy drinks.

Luci is actually useful if you can keep it supplied, it does a LOT to keep your pawns in top gear.

The other drugs only hop you up and eventually cause things like liver failure to happen.

Luci will regrow that liver for you.
Go-Juice, Wake-Up, and Luciferium are all pretty useful.

I find myself using Wakeup and occasionally Go-juice every so often (unless it's changed in B19, which I haven't done a full playthrough of yet, wakeup is safe roughly every 3-4 days) since with correct rationing, there's never a chance of addiction from Wakeup, and Go-juice can be useful (and I think is currently under similar rules to Wakeup, once again, unless changed recently).

Luciferium is fantastic for pawns kept in cryo-sorry, *CRYPTOsleep (because Tynan). Pop a luci, unfreeze em whenever needed for combat (keeping in mind the debuff from this, so they'd need to be basically a super soldier) and refreeze em. They only need a fresh dose every ten combat forays or so, since caskets stop the luci dose timer. Many people (I don't, not a fan of the abusability of it) actually have mods to produce luci, so that way they can reach a mid-endgame state of all pawns using it.

Most of the other drugs imo aren't worth it. All forms of psychite (flake, yayo, psychoid tea) have instant addiction chances, smokeleaf is good to sell but the usage lowers efficiency heavily and makes pawns eat more, etc.

I do dabble in Ambrosia though. It's nice for a perenially sad pawn/pawn having a rough time to go nom on some Ambrosia to get that little mood boost as well as max Joy-sorry, *Recreation. Have you had your Joy today?

To be fair, cryptosleep isn't exactly the same thing as cryogenics. Cryptosleep seems to involve some sort of stasis goo instead of freezing, if the splatters of slime that appear when you open a crypto pod are any indication...

True, I just have a habit of calling it cryosleep, tbh.

Also, looking at the code, it appears that Wakeup is still safe every 72 ingame hours (taking one ups tolerance by 0.045, reduces by 0.015 per day, minimum to addict is 0.08).

Go-juice is unsafe, at 0.044 tolerance per dose, reduces by 0.015 per day-but minimum to addict is only 0.03. Ambrosia is safe once every two days, too, for the sake of completeness :)
