Report a translation problem
Or, you know, another mod problem (like every third thread these days due to update...)
If you bothered to read the tool-tips, the large maps are not designed to be played and break the AI. More than likely this happens:
Game: Spawn AI raiders on Map.
AI = Raid means Setup Mortars = True.
Gamefield is X units - AI expects X-Y units.
Mortars have a range of Y-Z, aka not enough.
AI cannot fulfill Raid parameters, reverts to basic rush mode.
Note: you've no idea how this is calc'd, the actual position of the AI might not even matter if it's calculated before they spawn.
TL;DR
The large maps are there for testing mechanics other than the AI - economy, resource management etc. Don't expect the narrative AI to work properly on them.
/thread
So you're using a mod to do it, which is probably 0.18 and almost certainly is made by someone who just typed "400" in the XML rather than edit the much harder stuff like AI parameters.
This thread delivered the stupid.
REPORTED.
Just randomly noticed that you can choose "test map sizes" in the options menu, that gives 350 and 400
Because he probably didnt find it out by chance like me.
And it being a "test map" should have kinda been a warning - tho i am not sure how stupid the AI can react.
Yes, and they're labelled "Extreme Test". i.e. for stress testing the engine, not for playing on.
Large map sizes don't just degrade performance - they actually break the game design. The AI will make stupid decisions, and game balance will be badly effected in various ways. These sizes are included for tradition and testing reasons only, please do not use them without a specific reason.
>Proceeds to make forum post complaining that AI is bugged on them.
The fact you had to unlock them via an option in the options menu and ignored the warning is worse than just using a mod: you know you're being a muppet rather than just an ignorant pleb who can't figure out why the mod they downloaded isn't working.
Yeah I think this might be it. I'll try to disable a sandbag mod and see it how it goes.
edit: sieges worked normally again. If you're using the following mod, sieges might be bugged since it uses custom sandbags.

I GUESS BOINK THE TROLL WAS WRONG, HUH?
>Proceeds to only inform people he's running a mod after getting attention.
>Bug is in Mod
>Ignores fact that AI might still break using 400x400 maps that aren't supposed to be played (and likely will be removed when 1.0 goes live)
You're a special little thing, you know that, right?
