Also, where do you get the "higher tier" one please?
Other factors can also boost speed, such as putting the table into a sterile room.
Cool, thanks :)
Hmmm, thanks for this, how do you figure this out? Is it something you just picked up or is there somewhere you can actually see this? Also, are there any other items where this is true please? What is the add-on I can build and is that only once I've done the research? Want to plan how big my new research centre must be as it's still just a crummy little room with a single table that I replaced with a marble table in the hopes of speeding up research.
I'm trying to learn as many key items as possible so that in my next play through I can really take on a challenge, like that single naked person scenario as I think the concept of really starting with absolutely nothing is just amazing. I love doing that in Factorio :)
Ah, so it's 'Microelectronics' that unlocks the high tech research bench, took a long time but I finally found it! :)
Also research speed is increased by the room being clean, especially using sterile tile.
To find out more info, keep an eye out for the lower case i in any menu or window.
In the case of the research bench, select your research bench, look in the lower left window, and click that i
Look in the bottom section under Building:
Left click on "research speed factor"
Now all the things that affect that appear in the right pane of that window.
Things like this work all over the place in Rimworld.
I would suggest you also take a look at this mod:

This mod gives more detailed info in a hyperlink type of interface in-game. It works especially well for mods that add new things, or more complex mods like HardcoreSK or Superior Crafting that add just a ton of things. I believe it works by reading the xml of the mods/game.
