How to best utilize bionics?
I put bionic legs and arms on my best melee and he is BRUTAL, but what about other classes? Like, would eyes help a good shooter aim better?
Or internal organs, does a bionic liver or lungs do anything for anyone who's not just been damaged internally in a fight or something?
What about a jaw...or an ear?
Google said that bionic arms help your constructors, is that true?
Anyone a fan of bionics that wants to share any of their know-how?

Your construction speed is tied to your manipulation. Bionic arms increase your manipulation, so yes, it makes your constructors faster.

Shooting accuracy is tied to both sight and manipulation, so both bionic arms and eyes will have an effect: https://rimworldwiki.com/wiki/Shooting_Accuracy

You can see a breakdown of all the buffs affecting almost every area of your pawn by looking at thier stat screen.

Artifical bodyparts affect the % efficiency of the part they replace, which affects its own resistances during combat and other stats on pawns. This means that a simple prosthetic arm affects the manipulation stat, which when weakened affects many things like work speed, botching chance, melee damage and so on. For organs though, that the colonists don't use to walk or grab, they affect their own stats, like breathing, blood filtration and so on. These themselves affect movement and manipulation, somone with only one lung will work and live slower than one with both. This effect is reversed for synthetic organs and bionic limbs: statswise the bonus efficiency benefits both movement and or manipulation. However, much more importantly, these artifical parts are immune to diseases that they can fall prey to. For instance, a bionic arm can't develop a carcinoma, a synthetic lung can't develop asthma, a synthetic heart can't have artery blockage, and a synthetic eye can't develop cataracts.

Returning to the effects on stats, when one or more of the stats are "Enhanced" this means that *every sub-stat affected by it gets a bonus as well*.

Bionic eyes improve accuracy, so a shooter benefits from them.
A synthetic stomach improves metabolism, so eating is done faster and the user remains fed for longer.
A synthetic liver improves blood filtration, so the body can build immunities more quickly, and so on.
And as for the Bionic arms, as manipulation increases, so does work speed. The chance to botch a construction in turn decreases.

You can also check these stats out by looking at the health info tab of a person. Usually (if I dont want to look something up), I make a guinea pig pawn and attach something to it. Then I check the positives/negatives, then make a decision on who would benefit from getting that type of upgrade.

For example, someone gets an arm torn off, replace it with a bionic arm, then they have purple "enhanced" manipulation. If you hover over enhanced, you can see what is upping that ability (bionic arm). Hmm, I think my cook would benefit the most from enhanced manipulation. So I make 2 bionic arms, and put the cook under the knife.

Just note that some skills arent always apparent of what they affect. Typically, you cant go wrong adding a bionic part as long as you have the materials and a proper doctor.

Wow right on, thanks a lot for this info...yeah Steve, that's what I'll do with a couple, probably create a save and see what happens with it. Very nice.
Bionic arms and legs really aren’t bad on anyone, all they do is help. Don’t waste them on someone who’s only job is to clean though.

If your ever curious what they do, just attach them to a raider and then take them off. Removes their arm/leg in the process. Then you just give them a peg leg, load em up on luci and then release them and hope they come back

There was a tactical cornea implant that helps with the shooting. If you plan to make a strong sniper type of pawn, then try to buy this from a merchant.

I’ve found it’s actually best for mid range guns, bionic eyes (at least from EPOE) offer an increase in range which is significantly better for sniping since it’ll let you get more shots in before they even get close.

Personally I quite like my Spee D. Cleaner!

Wat? I put my first bionic legs to a janitor dedicated to cleaning. This is what this game is about, isn't it?

Does performing surgery on prisoners give you a colony debuff and what level of doctoring do you recommend for implants?

It does if you’re removing parts, of their arm is already missing it won’t. You’ll get “someone’s organ was harvested” debuff. But it only happens when you chop off the initial body part.

As for installing bionics, I only use level 12+ doctors but if I have one that’s been damaged or something I’ll use it as training for the younger docs. In about a day I can level 2-3 guys up by having them attach and detach limbs from a prisoner. It caps out every day at a set amount of points (5k I think?) but it’s super effective.

Implants like what? I use a lot of mods so I’m not sure what’s in the base game. If it’s anything brain related I only use 18+ doctors. Don’t want a potato for a pawn
