Campfire or wood fired generator and heater/cooler?
I am wondering about the efficiency of keeping a campfire for cooking and heating versus using that wood in a wood generator to power heaters, coolers, ovens

I don't know the numbers, but not using electric power when you clearly have access to it would be the most inefficient method I could think of... One load of wood powers a generator for several days and, from that, you can run many different appliances at different locations.

PS - IF you have the ability to gather wood, that is. If wood is very sparse, then you're stuck with geothermal heating, anyway, so I wouldn't think you'd consider it for heating purposes. If you have enough to use as heating, alone, you have enough to power a generator, I'd think.

If you're on a map with abundant wood as you're hurting for steel and components, campfire and fueled appliances can be viable. It depends on what the map is and what resources can you work with.

I am on a map that is desert biome so I harvest any cactus that is fully mature but as you can imagine I am not loaded with wood. So when winter comes I thought should I use campfire or should I burn wood to make electricity for the heater. And during the summer should I make the cooling wood thingy that cost fifty wood or should I burn wood in generator to run coolers. That is my real scenario and question. Although, yes, relying on geothermal for heat in winter makes a lot of sense but my current base is not near geothermal vent but is built up near a bug nest cause my pawns routinely raid that bug nest at night when they are sleeping for the royal jelly and the free glow pod things.

Better yet, use the generator itself as your heating system.
Use the generator to provide heat as well, get to chemfuel ASAP so you can buy that and use that for heat and power thereby protecting your wood supply

An infinite chemfuel generator would be gold, there.

But, in the desert, I'd think solar panels and turbines would be viable, too. Cook with whatever one can until the power system is up, then move to electric/chem as soon as possible.
