Is there a hotkey for the beauty sensor?
Clicking that tiny button at the corner of the screen is irritating. I want a hotkey!

Could always make a macro for it yourself, and bind it to a key...
Why do you even need it that often though? Can't you just click the table half the time to see how impressive a room is? =P

Are you putting a table into every room?

Tables are nice, but I prefer more complete information and sometimes I don't have the space to spare. :senpai:

Room info shows up on tables and beds, if a room doesn't have one of those two objects then the room stats don't matter in that room (unless you have a rec room without a table). Local beauty is only going to have a notable impact near statues and chunks, maybe bodies depending on what you are doing, you don't need the overlay to see at a glance if a certain area will have a buff or debuff and the exact numbers don't matter. I think I've turned on the beauty overlay about once for every 100 hours I have played, and most of those were misclicks.

There was a time where it was easier to access, I think it had a hotkey, and then you could quickly click out of it. That was a long time ago, it was moved to a toggle in the corner because it wasn't something people ever needed to use more than a handful of times while learning the game.

Please don't tell me whether or not it "matters". Nothing "matters" in a video game, particularly in a sandbox game with user-defined goals. I like the beauty system, I think it's interesting, and if the functionality to look at the numbers is in the game at all, there is no reason for it to be inconvenient. If I'm not "supposed" to see them, Tynan should remove them entirely.

Your best bet is to go to the ludeon forums and make a post in the suggestions forum.

Sorry, by "matters" I meant has an effect on gameplay. You only get buffs when a colonist eats, sleeps, rests in a medical bed, or does a joy activity in a room. The room stats are then used when that actvitity is done to determine the size of the buff/debuff the colonist gets. If you don't have one of the related objects to those activities in any given room, nearly all of which list the room stats on the object themselves, then the room stats have no effect.

Beauty itself does have an impact on colonists, and the beauty overlay shows you the range at which they consider their surroundings and which ones add or subtract from their beauty need bar. I believe the plan was to remove it entirely, the logic being you didn't need to use the overlay multiple times to see dirt was ugly, but IIRC some people protested so it was kept in as it is now. You can do as BlackSmokeDMax suggested and make a post on the official forums, but my point was only that it's unlikely to change and to explain why.

It's either G or T. Forget which. Room values and beauty.

Thanks, are you on the 1.0 unstable branch? Doesn't seem to be working in Beta 18.
Meat Horse Array Jul 3, 2018 @ 4:07pm
G is for rooms, T is for beauty.
Running in 1.0
I don't think it is a feature in beta.

Great, looking forward to this feature in the full release!

Thank you everyone who took the time to respond. :d4_wink:

Not a problem. Looks like Tynan messed with a lot of the hotkeys but those two have been a big help.
