Is a recurve bow better than a starting rifle or a revolver in the game?

They are kind of different. Revolver has best rate of fire. Rifle has best range. Recurve bow is kind of between.

But greatbow is better then revolver in any case

I prefer bow over revolver, especially if you loot normal+ version of it.

You're confusing the revolver with the auto pistol. Auto pistol has best rate of fire. Revolver has more kick than the auto pistol but less than the recurve. Recurve bow deals more damage than both but a slower rate of fire. They all have the same range. Rifle is better than all three. Same rate of fire as the recurve but way more damage and range ensuring a better damage output.
