Anyway to pick where raids spawn?
I want raiders to spawn on one side of zone. I dont want to make it too easy. Just want them on one side to simulate living in a valley or "cave". Is their a mod that allows this as well as setting strength of raids and WHEN they spawn? As is i seem to build too fast and get 30 raiders attacking my couple colonists lol I tend to build living areas of base first then once done start defenses but long before that they start spawning and destroying me :-)

Perhaps you should plant a sign post at the map borders that reads:
Dear raiders,
Please be kind and follow the directions to my base and travel along the route I wish you to follow. Many thanks.

Use dev mode to fill map edges with some kind of impassable tiles - walls or deep water.

Lol I mean i want to have a base inside a cave or valley with natural choke point. I dont want it to be easy. I want challenge But wanted to try a "cave" colony "same style as another game does". If cant its no big deal. Was just curious is all. At size maps i can do its hard have a base to hold 100+ people and still have room for defenses.

Ya i know what gonna say next... Change how play and build. Wanted try some thing new is all.

A mountain map will give you what you want. Use the map re-roll mod and you can go through a couple maps until you find a layout you like. Also raiders will always go for an open space... so you can sort of guide them by building walls that funnel them where you want them to go. Sappers will somewhat ignore that... but even they can be gamed.

Ah so no quick way. K thanks. Ive tried doing cave removeing so could build. But i tend to forget about roof distance and it kills my colonists lol

Np=) next time you start a new colony I highly recommend the map reroll mod. I like a very specific kind of map so I use prepare landing which filters the world tiles by temp, biome, rock type etc, then I will reroll the map until I get a rock formation I like to build my base in. The reroll feature will show you a minimap preview of what the layout will look like and when you find one you like you can generate it in full to be sure. Just check the mod options for it though as there are a couple that make a significant difference.

It requires further testing to be sure, but I seem to have been able to force raids to spawn in a particular area on my map simply because I've built everywhere else. Only one small corner of my map remains undeveloped/is the farthest from my structures, and that seems to be the area they come from. However, I need more raids to test this to be certain. To clarify, no parts of my map are inaccessible, I've just built to the borders.

That's fine, but be aware that as of the last update, cave systems are now natural spawn points for infestations and any map you choose with caves will usually have hives present by default from the start of the game. So, perhaps it would be wiser to build your base out in the open until you're ready to deal with the critters.

I didnt mean litterly built in a cave. Have never seen a cave to behonest ingame. I mean simulate it. Build outside like normal. But have only one way into base. I played a different game before this. And you only build underground. So got used to that style of base. Id like to try it here. I want tough raids. 100 npc force and all. Just want it for THIS play throughto try it.

Welcome=) if you find your 'wealth' is outpacing your construction... just make a stockpile that's close to your base but not in it... I usually dig out some rock rather build a room... then put all your really valuable stuff like jade, gold, plasteel etc in the stockpile and wall that cave off completely, so haulers will leave it alone. Then delete the stockpile and remove that part of the map from your home area. AI won't count it for raid strength. Think of it like your dwarven stash. No one would know about it so raiders wouldn't be dropping in by the dozen because you are saving a f.uckload of silver to make sterile floors. It helps I find. I tame everything on the map to have a collection and try them in combat. (Tortoises FTW.) so AI basically thinks I'm a small city. Booo.
Ya i tame all moofaloos for caravans i see. Ill try that. Ya 2nd raid sent over 15 npc at me. 3 had even more O.O And every other animal i see for my pet zoo lol

ya i sold every thing could, mined, and such and had over 50k silver saved. once base finished was makeing floors and walls to replace wood ones i used to "layout" colony.
