Personally, I typically use corridor font or some third variant, like 'Paved Tile' for doors to outside areas or bathrooms, or ' Metal Tile' to warehouses/hospitals.

They are a square tile with hard defined edges that look fine on their own under a door.
Or be me and have a tangle of grey cables and grey pipes going everywhere in a chaotic gordian knot-themed modern art installation, works either way.

HAHA, a great question one that I often struggle with and ask myself in game. Its great other people struggle with this to.
Ive been going with the room tile under the door, but sometimes it dont feel right, then I go the other way and that dont feel right. Its a constant struggle.
