Hwelll no! lol. JK. When I started out I would choose hilly areas and make my own caves for my whole base. Slow work but much safer than being out in the open. :)
Maybe I should go back to it. lol
I have been tying that for almost a whole game year and I have yet to see a infestation. Am I missing somthing?
They spawn a lot less often and one decent pawn with good gear can solo a hive or two. Basically it lowers their hp a ton which makes the process more bearable when they spawn a couple dozen hives late game.
Do not do this, unless you're fine with horrible efficiency.
I didn't know light affected their spawn. For your kill room, I wonder if you could have vents sending in hot air until they burn to death. I considered this for a prison complex once.
