Infection in meat not a thing?
Killed a Thrumbo and it bled out with infection going on.
How is that meat not scripted to have a chance of food poisoning, or is it?

As far as I know, this will not impact the quality of the meat. I do think that it would be interesting to see something like this be a factor, and in a way it "kind of" is in that if you let a corpse rot a few days, it can no longer be used for meat. Though thats about it, as far as I am aware.

All meat has a good chance to cause food poisoning if not cooked. The game doesn't keep track of individual meat or the source, it's not going to know what was potentially diseased or not, so it just applies a blanket risk to all uncooked meat. You also get less meat from animals based on the damage done to them, so you can assume they just cut out the really nasty stuff.
Yeah I noticed that Astasia. I wonder what the best weapon for hunting is then. A club on a brawler maybe? Guaranteed 100% meat then.

Melee hunting is disabled without mods, and blunt attacks can still destroy bodyparts. It's generally not worth thinking about, 5-20% less meat here and there isn't really noticeable. If you really wanted to maximize meat though you'd probably have to use drafted pawns and like shoot an animal a few times with a low damage gun then wait for it to bleed out, and hope it doesn't leave the map. I just use survival rifles or sniper rifles usually, better to be safe and quick with the kills, more animals will wander into the map soon enough.

Even IRL animal infections don't neccesarily affect humans. And especially if the meat is cooked to a correct temperature to kill bacteria, should lessen the risk even more. But for the game, yeah, it'd be too finicky to track - now you have at least doubled the categories of meat, for not a corresponding gain in enjoyment imo...

The condition of the corpse is irrelevant as long as it's not rotten or dessicated, which means you can't butcher it. Once the corpse is butchered, it disappears and the meat that spawns in is at 100% condition and as safe as any other meat. The condition of ingredtients also have no impact on the chance of poisoning meals.

Eating a raw corpse carries a chance of food poisoning, but no other ill effects. Eating a rotten corpe is almost guaranteed food poisoning but again, no other ill effects. The real danger is the mood loss, which is why people love their cannibal colonies so much.

Infections in animals don't affect humans at all?
Eh... I know some don't, but I haven't studied it enough.
Are you telling me that there's a large number of diseases from animals that won't actually kill or damage humans?
Didn't know you couldn't butcher a rotting corpse for the remaining leather. (Never tried it.)
Didn't think about how the meat % was a thing too. Valid point.
