How to get the best price selling sculptures ?
Hi
Ive got one of my dudes just making sculptures and im trying to make the most money this way. I only make grand ones, and my dude is 20/20 for that skill, but he never seems to make any legindery ones just "exelent" ones. Does it make any difference what i make them from the wood and the steel ones seem to go for about the same price. Are wood ones quicker to make. Whats the most efficent material to use to make the most amount of money. i Do have lots of uranium is that any good ?

Thanks !

Steel is a bit wasteful to turn into sculptures, there are better uses for it. With higher quality materials like silver/gold you actually generally lose money by making them into sculptures, it's more about the beauty for them, place them in your base instead of selling them.

Legendaries in 1.0 only come from inspirations, there is zero chance to craft one otherwise. Masterworks are only about a 10% chance at 20 skill.

"Best" is pretty subjective based on skill, time, and available materials. You can refer to the wiki for tables that will point you in the right direction. It used to have work-speed modifier, but it looks like that was either moved, removed, or was simply in a different location where I first saw it:

Watch for when your artist gets the "inspired/creative" perk alert. (Can't remember which it is, but the description will tell you what they can do.) When that happens, make sure they run off to their Sculpting Bench and make the biggest sculpture you can out of the best materials that you have in order to have the best chance for a "Legendary" item as a result.

Jade, Gold, Marble are maybe the best materials to craft sculptures afaik, Marble is maybe the best option since it's pratically "endless" in a huge map with any mountain and even then it has a great value for it's quantities, Gold might be the most worthy tho

Because it takes so long to make grand sculptures, I let my best artist complete most of it ahead of time. Once it's over 90% done, I pause the crafting bill and draft/undraft the colonist so they immediately stop. Once they get inspired creativity, I resume the bill and they finish it within the inspiration time.

Train your sculptors with wooden statues and then when he reach lvl 15 have him make silver statues. Normal/Good grade silver statues will always return 90% to full investment while excellent ones return huge profit margin from 500 silver to 700 depends on your negotiators.

A normal silver sculpture barely breaks even, the average value for a skill 20 artist is about a 50% value gain. So you can turn 500 silver into 750 silver, or you can turn 50 wood into 160 silver. Wood has 0.7 work rate multiplier, which means in about the same amount of time you can craft 250s worth of small silver sculptures you could craft 230s worth of wood sculptures, which are much easier to sell because caravans actually have enough silver to buy the higher quality ones (you have issues selling mastercrafted/legendary small silver sculptures to caravans, let alone the bigger ones). Silver is not terrible if you are skill capped, if your skill is a bit lower it's a loss. I would still say wood is best if you just want to churn them out for money.

Yeah, I just use wood. Only when the artist gets an inspiration do I use expensive materials. Though my beer production usually covers my money needs.

With all the talk of using wood, I suggest you check out the VGP mods. They add a lot of plants and you can grow bamboo plants. They grow pretty fast (compared to trees) with a fair harvest, but they suck for making structures, but good for floors, sculptures, and fuel.

"With higher quality materials like silver/gold you actually generally lose money by making them into sculptures, it's more about the beauty for them, place them in your base instead of selling them." Not sure about regulary creation, but legendary items (at least made of silver) were 1.45 times expinsive than it`s creation cost
