Devilstrand taking over a year to grow
During year 4 i thought i had lost my devilstrand crops because i sowed too late in the year, So for the fifth i leveled up all my growers beforehands and got all my growing areas sowed on the first day available (January 6) Now i've entered fall and have already gone past the supposed 22.5 days it takes devilstrand to grow, And by my estimations at this rate it would take it 65 days.

I sowed on regular 100% fertility soil with no rocks around and there are no bad weather modifiers, Yet they still won't grow properly.

light level and temperature please

IIRC the "grow time" measures the days of active growing time, NOT including daily plant resting period. So real grow times are about double that number.

I like to play 20/60 so I don't even try for devilstrand until I have greenhouses up and running. >_<

Im playing on a temperate forest, Currently 20c and it has gone from 20c to 34c since i sowed those growing zones, Light level has always been 100% during the day i don't have any roofs blocking light or any weather effects like a volcanic winter or things like that.

So my high end clothes venture will be a complete waste on year 5 too then, Great.

I've done the numbers, And with the size of my growing areas and the supposed fully grown yield per tile i've lost around 22000 devilstrand. Just fantastic. At least i keep getting thrumbos somehow arriving into my 1 cell island.

Ya the real grow time for devilstrand is like 40 days on normal soil, 60 days on gravel, at perfect temperatures. On most maps you would want a greenhouse to grow it so you can keep the temperature stable for the duration. I'm guessing when you started it in January the temps were still below ideal and it was growing at a slower rate for a while, and a summer heatwave can add a few more days as well.

If by "venture" you meant money making, devilstrand is literally the worst plant to grow in the game for making silver, both because of the time required to grow it and the low gains you get using it for production compared to cloth. It does make great clothes to outfit you colonists with though, I'm not sure you'd need 22000 of it for that. >_>

I mean for clothings, Im going to use dusters and shirts for around 50-70 colonists, 22000 devilstrand is enough to make two sets of each for every colonist for when they degrade with use. I want to have all my colonists with really durable dusters and shirts, flak vest/pants and advanced plasteel helmets.

For money im making massive amounts of drugs, Two full fridges with plants and 120 fermentation barrels in my greenhouses, Im producing 3000 beer per batch.
