As long as you're playing with the normal, vanilla, game and you're not using a ton of mods or running more colonists than the default limits, you "should be" fine.
I'd recommend getting a mouse, though. I assume MacBooks allow you to have a mouse without having to get a second mortgage or sacrifice a goat to the ghost of Steve Jobs or something.
PS - I assume you're asking because there is an Apple version... If you're going to try running it in a sandboxed Windows OS using a Windows version, I certainly can't give any advice there.
The install size is less than 300 MB.
It’ll run okay with a few colonist but it will inevitably lag. Your MacBook will get hot like it does with most other games. As far as I’m concern this 1.0 is garbage performance compared to past alphas -when I had a MacBook- so I don’t know.
Compared to most games available for mac, it'll run decent since it doesn't require much graphic wise.
Overall though no problems.
